The lark waits…

   The moon that night
   was a shade more dark
   In those deep blue eyes
   an emotion stark
Lurking in the abyss of despair
that night had almost lost its spark..

     The hearts that
     loved and longed forever
     in love and trust
     their nest aflutter
veiled in a misty gust of black
     the whirlwind came
     and toppled it over..

   A pair of eyes
   it loved so much
   A song that filled
   its heart with mirth
   Was no more warmth
   Just a numbing chill
   A haunted tune
   And a frightening shrill…

     the lark that once sang
     tunes of joy
     lost its glory
     in sheer dismay
     the pearls of sorrow
     all wound together
     a shackle that bound
     its wings away

   the night had passed
   and so had the storm
   with renewed dreams
   came the scarlet sun
   chirping with joy
   and a loving heart
to take its love on a
   fresh new start

     with a broken wing
     it could not now soar
     hearts mend but scars
     still green and sore
     the lark could only
     ask in despair
     why love had always
     to be so unfair??

 Its friend its mate
    Still awaits..
    With open wings at the
    Golden gate
    From where
    Starts a flight to heaven
    Far from mistrust and hate…
